# Advanced Shipping Options

> Configure fallback rates, price caps, expedited shipping, and international rates

From the shipping setup dashboard, click **Advanced Options** to open the configuration dialog. Changes take effect after you re-sync rates to Shopify.

## Fallback Rate

A [fallback rate](/compliance/shipping-terms#fallback-rate) is used when no calculated rate matches a customer's order (e.g., an unassigned product or unexpected cart combination).

| Setting                  | Description                                                 |
| ------------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Enable Fallback Rate** | Show a default shipping price instead of no shipping option |
| **Fallback Amount**      | The flat rate to charge (e.g., \$9.99)                      |

  Choose a price that covers your average shipping cost so you don't lose money on edge cases.

## Max Shipping Price

Cap the shipping price shown to customers. If a calculated rate exceeds this amount, the max price is shown instead.

| Setting              | Description                       |
| -------------------- | --------------------------------- |
| **Enable Max Price** | Cap shipping rates at a maximum   |
| **Max Amount**       | The ceiling price (e.g., \$15.00) |

## Expedited Shipping

Offer a faster option alongside standard rates.

| Setting                   | Description                                                        |
| ------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Enable Expedited Rate** | Show an expedited option at checkout                               |
| **Expedited Rate**        | Fixed price for expedited shipping (e.g., \$14.99)                 |
| **Delivery Speed**        | Estimated timeframe shown to customers (e.g., "1-3 business days") |

When enabled, customers see two options at checkout: the calculated standard rate and the fixed expedited rate.

## International Shipping

Set a flat rate for international orders.

| Setting                       | Description                                            |
| ----------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Enable International Rate** | Offer international shipping at checkout               |
| **International Rate**        | Flat price for international shipments (e.g., \$24.99) |

  International rates are currently flat (not zone-calculated). We are working on adding international support to the full order-based rates feature. Customs and label creation for international orders are handled through the [international shipping workflow](/customs/create-international-orders).

## Syncing Changes

After updating advanced options, click **Add Rates to Shopify** to push the changes to your store.
